Venice is facing a crisis! Because the city is standing on the water its future is uncertain because of climate change and rising sea levels. The city is completely flooded numerous times a year and only increasing in number.
We decided to engrave The Lion of St. Marco on it, which is an iconic symbol of Venice and is a perfect representation of Venice on a wood case.

Five centuries-old Ancient oak wood from Venice
An opportunity came by that we could use the material from the ancient discarded oak stakes used for foundations in Venice because they were not suitable anymore. Over time the ancient oak stakes that were exposed above sea level began to rot because microorganisms need oxygen to multiply. Instead of being thrown away, we found a new way to use them. Over five centuries of seawater made their structure like no other and it is truly a sight to behold once held in hand.
The Ancient oak wood is carefully hand oiled for the look, feel and natural smell, with an advanced coating, which is completely natural with 0% VOC (volatile organic compounds)and is the most advanced coating available.
