Himalayan Salt
Extracted from the salt mines in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains, pure pink Himalayan salt is the result of evaporated seawater which was once landlocked by mountains due to shifts of tectonic plates. Known to be the purest salt on Earth, Himalayan salt has been traditionally used in Ayurveda as a neti salt used to create a saline solution or a nasal rinse solution, to be used with a neti pot. Himalayan salt is known to have a purifying & soothing effect on the nasal passageways & can help to reduce &/or eliminate nasal & sinus infections. Lastly, Himalayan salt is rich in minerals like iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium & zinc. These essential minerals help to keep the immune system, bones & tissues of the body strong & vital.
Eucalyptus
Native to Tasmania & Australia, eucalyptus essential oil, derived from the medium-sized evergreen Eucalyptus tree, has cool & light qualities, making it ideal to pacify the heavy & dull qualities of kapha dosha. Ayurveda recommends eucalyptus to reduce irritation & inflammation within the nasal passages & also for its ability to expel mucus out of the respiratory tract. In the mental & emotional body, this clearing essential oil can help to improve focus & cleanse negative energy.
Peppermint
With its refreshing aroma, peppermint essential oil clears & awakens the mind, helping to reduce excess kapha & its cooling action balances the fiery nature of pitta. Supportive to the movement of prana, peppermint can also help to balance vata dosha or, more specifically, prana vayu. It is also a wonderful decongestant & expectorant, helping to eradicate mucus & congestion from the respiratory tract, nose & sinus region.
